What is massage therapy?

Massage therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for the purpose of restoring those tissues to a healthy state, free from pain and dysfunction. It combines kneading, stretching, pressure, and percussion of the muscles with active and passive movement of the joints to relieve tension and restore balance and posture, facilitating recovery from acute soft-tissue injuries, and chronic or repetitive muscle strain.

Who can benefit from massage therapy?

Massage therapy is an effective, natural treatment option for people of all ages, stages of life, and levels of physical ability. Treatment can be safely performed by any of our practitioners during all stages of pregnancy and postpartum, and with some modifications for those living with chronic or acute health concerns.

What conditions can massage therapy treat?

Massage therapy can treat a variety of common conditions including:

• muscle spasms, trigger points, tears and strains
• joint injuries, such as sprains and ligament tears
• repetitive strain injuries
• neurological pain and compressions
• delayed onset muscle soreness
• chronic pain and tensions due to postural changes and dysfunctions
• injuries to the back (facet joint irritation, bulging, herniated or degenerated discs)
