Anatomica’s chiropractors use only evidence-based neurofunctional assessment and chiropractic treatment techniques, rooted in the principles of sports medicine. Our team of chiropractic doctors offer diversified treatment techniques, including soft tissue release, mobilization, remedial exercises and homecare, and classic chiropractic adjustments.
Chiropractic for back pain
It’s well known that most patients book a chiropractic appointment for neck or low back pain, but that’s only because there is more neck and low back pain in our society now than ever before. Chiropractors are trained to treat everything from plantar fascia pain to headaches and everything in between. Evidence suggests that not only is it effective for back pain, but in fact: most muskuloskeletal conditions benefit from manual therapy techniques such as Chiropractic and massage therapy.
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic doctors are health care providers with expert knowledge of the relationship between musculoskeletal function and the nervous system, whose treatments focus on the structural integrity of the spine and biomechanics of the body. Chiropractic is one of the largest primary care professions in Ontario – offering non-invasive, hands-on health care that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment & preventative care of the musculoskeletal system. All Chiropractors are required to complete an undergraduate degree followed by four years of chiropractic college. Evidence-informed and patient-centered treatment by a Chiropractic Doctor may include soft-tissue treatment, Active Release Therapy, joint mobilizations & manipulations, nerve stimulation, and remedial exercise to treat musculoskeletal injuries & dysfunction.
How does Chiropractic help ?
Benefits of Chiropractic manual care include reduction in pain, improvements in strength, improvements in the proprioceptive (sensory) capabilities of your joints, improved mobility and an improved capability for your muscles and joints to respond well to the stress you place upon them.
Is Chiropractic safe?
Chiropractic is a dynamic treatment that utilizes many techniques, not just spinal adjustments. Chiropractors are well-trained to rule out any potential red-flags or contraindications, meaning they only proceed with treatment if it is safe to do so. If you are uncomfortable with having adjustments to your back or neck, you can still benefit from Chiropractic care.
What to expect at your Chiropractic treatment at Anatomica:
A typical Initial Assessment visit with a Chiropractor starts with a health history review so we can assess your current health, daily activities and treatment goals. Your chiropractic doctor at Anatomica will follow that up with a functional orthopaedic physical exam. Once we have provided you with a diagnosis of the underlying condition and ruled out other potential harmful conditions, we discuss the nature of the treatment plan and your current goals for treatment. The physical exam is then followed by treatment. An Initial Assessment usually takes 40 minutes to an hour, while subsequent visits usually take about 10-20 minutes. We ask that you show up wearing comfortable, non-restrictive clothing for accurate assessment in our physical exam, and to allow ease of movement when performing exercises.
