If they are considering chiropractic care, one of the first questions people ask is about the cost, and how many visits they’ll need to feel better. While fees can vary depending on the clinic and practitioner, understanding what happens during your visits can help you know what you are paying for and what to expect. At Anatomica, our committment to patient-led care means there’s no never-ending treatment plans or fear-based sales tactics. We’ll provide the best care each time we see you, no matter how frequently you visit. Read on to learn more about what to expect when you visit a chiropractor, what a typical treatment plan looks like, and the average cost in Toronto clinics:
Basic Treatment Planning for Chiropractic Care
All Chiropractors in Ontario will follow a fairly standard treatment protocol for injury management, starting with an assessment and intial treatment, an evaluation of results, and a progressive treatment plan with more frequent visits during the acute stage, reducing to fewer and farther between each as the patient’s symptoms subside. Maintenance care recommendations range from 4-8 week intervals.
What to Expect When You See a Chiropractor
When you see a Chiropractor, your individual treatment plan will be based on your assessment findings, symptoms, and goals. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, but there is a typical course of care.
Assessment
Your first visit is a comprehensive assessment. During this appointment, your chiropractor will take a detailed health history, perform physical testing, and identify any red flags that might require a referral or imaging before starting treatment. A personalised treatment plan is created at this stage based on your specific needs, goals, and condition. If it is safe to proceed, your first treatment is provided after the assessment in your initial appointment.
Report of Findings
Your second appointment is usually called the report of findings. This is a comprehensive visit: an opportunity to evaluate measurable outcomes and your subjective response to the initial treatment, reviews any imaging results that were ordered, and modify or progress your treatment plan if needed. Home-care recommendations are provided to help you manage your symptoms between appointments.
Treatment
For acute issues such as sciatica, disc herniation, neuropathies, musculoskeletal pain, or sports injuries, treatment is typically scheduled one to two times per week in the acute stage. As symptoms improve and you are able to return to normal activities, visits are gradually reduced to every two weeks or once per month for corrective and restorative treatment, reducing the risk of reinjury and chronic dysfunction.
Preventative and Maintenance Care
After their injury is resolved, many patients continue chiropractic care for ongoing maintenance, personal wellness and preventative purposes. Most people schedule visits every four to eight weeks to maintain mobility, manage everyday stresses on the body, and because they love how they feel with chiropractic!
Chiropractors treat more than back pain!
Chiropractic doctors assess and treat all types of sports injuries and musculoskeletal dysfunctions, including vertigo, sciatica and other acute neuropathies, muscle spasms, vetebral disc irritation and herniations, tension headaches and chronic pain conditions, and can offer functional support for conditions involving the nervous system, such as fibromyalgia, migraine, P.O.T.S., multiple sclerosis, migraine, ADHD, Parkinson’s, and digestive motility disorders like gastroparesis and irritable bowel.
Chiropractic Treatment Options
After your intiial assessment, your chiropractor will make treatment recommendations based on your personal needs and preferences for techniques. Each appointment includes professional evaluation, treatment, and guidance for ongoing self-care to support your overall well-being. At Anatomica, our practitioners each offer unique services, and you can choose classic chiropractic visits of ~15-minutes, comprehensive manual therapy visits of ~30 mintues, and specialty treatments of ~45-60 minutes. Actual treatment duration is specific to each patient’s symptom presentation and response to treatment on the day of their chiropractic appointment.
Average Cost of Chiropractic Care
The average cost of chiropractic care in Toronto is dependant on the clinic, location, and the length of the visits. For an intial assessment, the average duration is 45-60 minutes, with a few clinics offering 30 minute assessment options. Follow up visits are typically 15 minutes, with fewer offering 30 minutes.
For these examples, we’ve only included classic chiropractic treatment, without any specilaty modalities:
| Type of Visit | Low-End | Average in Toronto | High-End |
| Initial Assessment | $130 | $140-$170 | $200 |
| 15 min Treatment | $55 | $60-$72 | $80 |

Bulk Treatment Discounts
Most patients who drop out of chiropractic care stop coming as soon as they have some relief, but before they’ve corrected the dysfunction that caused their original symptoms. This keeps them in a cycle of flare-ups and reliant on urgent care when their pre-exisiting injury resurfaces a few weeks or months later.
Wellness packages help reduce the overall cost of chiropractic and improve patient outcomes by making it easier to adhere to the treatment plan. By pre-paying at a discounted price, patients are able to maximize the number of sessions they can afford and see greater benefits from chiropractic care because they are able to continue past the acute stage and fully rehabilitate their injury in the corrective stage after their most intense symptoms subside. By completing their entire treatment plan through the acute and corrective stages (approximately 6-12 weeks for most injuries) patients see the full benefit of their investment and lasting results.

When to Book: Chiropractic Care on an As-Needed Basis
Not everyone wants or needs a structured plan of care. Chiropractic treatment can also be scheduled on an as-needed basis. An initial assessment is always required before treatment begins, but after that, patients are free to decide how often they would like to attend. Integrate Chiropractic into your regular wellness plan at Anatomica to see cumuluative and preventative benefits.
Your Chiropractor’s goal is to make you feel so good, you don’t need a chiropractor… but don’t discount the functional benefits of regular treatments! Nervous system regulation is key to reducing excessive stress and physical tension, and improving your body’s abilty to recover from illness and injury.
Some people choose to book appointments more frequently during busy or stressful periods, or when life circumstances shift and extra support feels helpful. Others find chiropractic care beneficial during transitions at work or home, when starting a new exercise routine, or while taking up a new hobby that places new demands on the body.
Even without a set schedule, chiropractic treatment can provide effective symptom management for muscle aches, stiffness, headaches, and joint pain, supporting both short-term relief and long-term function. Patients can visit their chiropractor for a quick adjustment or manual therapy appointment whenever they feel that their health needs a boost or their body a rest.
